Collaboration

Jer’s Vision is excited to collaborate with a variety of community organizations and business.

Some of our current projects include:

Canadian Blood Services
Jer’s Vision is currently working with Canadian Blood Services, Standing Against Queer Discrimination, the Carleton LGBTQ and Canadian Federation of Students to review the current policies that exclude MSM from donating blood (and organs depending on region). We hope to conduct educational and engagement programs that will engage the Rainbow Community in this debate and look at how to address the resulting discrimination.

Canadian Resource Centre for Victims of Crime
The Canadian Resource Centre for Victims of Crime (CRCVC) has been a leader in advocacy for victims and survivors of violent crime in Canada. Jer’s Vision is proud to partner with the CRCVC to develop a school based poster campaign that will focus on promoting the reporting of hate crimes and giving youth information on where they can find victim resources.

Capital Pride
Jer’s Vision is proud to support Capital Pride by sitting on the Operations Committee, and organizing the Mayor’s Flag Raising and Capital Pride Gala. For us, Pride is more than just a festival...it is an opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our community and our accomplishments. We must all remember that such festival come from a truly historical background that are based in changing the way we look at each other, and challenging each other to respect board diversity.

Inside Out Film Festival
Inside Out is our nation’s premier LGBTQ film festival organization. We are proud to support their Ottawa festival by making it accessible to youth, supporting marketing initiatives, and helping with the opening Gala. Film art plays a crucial role in dialoguing about experiences, and those surrounding diversity and discrimination are stories that must be told and talked about.

The Bank St Village
Jer’s Vision recognizes the Ottawa Bank St area as The Village, and sees potential in marketing it as the LGBTQ/Rainbow Village. We are currently a partner with Glenn Crawford and other community activists who are working with businesses; community organizations, the Business Improvement Area, and the City of Ottawa to have it receive official designation and as such, appropriate marketing and aesthetical additions.

uOttawa 101 Week
Jer’s Vision is proud to present the Drag Show for Welcome Week at the University of Ottawa. This event presented in collaboration with OPRIG and the University of Ottawa Pride Centre, seeks to challenge the hetero-normative events of 101 Week. Students are invited to celebrate being themselves, and being allies of the LGBTQ peers.
